This week’s UFC round – up: Rampage out of UFC 186 as former NAHL star takes his spot

Steve Bosse is set to make his UFC debut at UFC 186

The big news coming out of the MMA world is the UFC debut of former NAHL player, Steve Bosse, who will be stepping in for Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson at UFC 186. We had earlier published a statement provided to us by a UFC representative, regarding Bellator FC being granted an injunction by a New Jersey Superior Court judge, and with the event drawing ever so close, UFC has decided to replace Rampage with Bosse, who will be making his debut inside the Octagon in two weeks’ time.

UFC released the following statement regarding Steve Bosse replacing Quinton Jackson at the PPV:

"At the moment, Jackson and his representatives plan to appeal the court’s order, but with the event drawing nearer, the UFC has had to take action to ensure a suitable replacement was found to face Maldonado.”

UFC 186 will be headlined by Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson and Kyoji Horiguchi for the UFC Flyweight title, and will be co – main evented by Michael Bisping and C.B. Dollaway in the middleweight division.

Also, last night at UFC Fight Night 64, Mirko ‘Cro Cop’ Filipovic was successful in getting his revenge over Gabriel Gonzaga, as he managed to stop the fight in the third round. Cro Cop, who was slow out of the blocks, was seemingly outscored by Gonzaga in the first two rounds, but the Croatian turned things around in the third round. Cro Cop finished his opponent with lethal elbows before the referee stepped in and called an end to the fight.

The fight was billed as a revenge match, with Gonzaga winning their first encounter back at UFC 70 in 2007. Gonzaga suffered a nasty gash, thanks to the elbows landed by Cro Cop, and during his post – fight interview, Cro Cop vowed to get back inside the Octagon soon.

Next week’s UFC on FOX 15 will be headlined by middleweights Lyoto “The Dragon” Machida and Luke Rockhold, and the card also features a women’s strawweight bout between Felice Herrig and Paige VanZant. We will also try to get hold of Luke Rockhold for an interview, and make sure to check back for all the latest updates from the world of UFC and MMA.
