Former interim UFC Lightweight Champion Tony Ferguson has stated that due to UFC wanting to finalize his fight with Lightweight Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov in a rush, the process of booking his first undisputed title fight has not been very comfortable.

While speaking on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show, the 35-year-old stated that he wasn't happy with how the company went ahead with it and that, in turn, made his week unpleasant:

The manner that they did it really wasn’t the way I wanted to go, so it made the week kind of unpleasant,” Ferguson said Monday on “Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show.” “It puts my fans through the freakin’ ringer, but they kept it lighthearted for me. It was about as smooth as a bumpy road, but we got to our destination, which was cool.

Tony Ferguson is all set to take on UFC Lightweight Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov for the title at UFC 249 which will take place on April 18th, 2020 in Brooklyn, New York.

Ferguson holds an impressive record of 15 wins and 1 loss in the UFC but will be facing the challenge of a lifetime against the 31-year old Russian at UFC 249. Ferguson, who is confident of beating Nurmagomedov, also stated that he believes that he is inside Khabib's head and the UFC Lightweight Champion is going to make a mistake out of nervousness:

He’s going to be so nervous he’s going to make a mistake. I’m going to capitalize on that. I’m going to catch him during the scrambles. Scrambled eggs, baby. I’m going to make him piss blood. I owe him two to the chops, and he owes me 20 push-ups. This guy’s got an issue, and his name is Tony Ferguson. And I’m coming after him. It’s hunting season, baby
