Top 5 MMA Headlines of the week and analysis: 7 November, 2016
The UFC Fight Night in Mexico City was indeed the main highlight of the week that went by. Rafael Dos Anjos and Tony Ferguson had a classic fight at the event, and it also saw the UFC debut of the Straw-weight prospect, Alexa Grasso.
Ferguson and Grasso were clearly the biggest winners of the fight night, with Ricardo Lamas getting a bit of the spotlight for his win against Charles Oliveira, who had weight issues.
However, UFC Fight Night 98, was not the only headline maker this past week in the MMA community. Other interesting headlines and rumours came up through the week, and on this list, we are going to take a closer look at them.
#5 Donald Cerrone still up for the Robbie Lawler fight
The prospect of seeing Donald Cerrone and Robbie Lawler at UFC 205, was something that got the MMA fans excited. However, it fell through, after Lawler was forced to pull out of the fight. Though Cerrone managed to keep his place on the UFC 205 card, where he will fight Kelvin Gastelum, he is still open to the Lawler fight in the future.
Cerrone recently spoke about the respect that he has for Lawler and how Lawler informed him about pulling out of the fight. The Cowboy also added that the prospect of fighting Lawler still excites him.
With both fighters, who have had long and impressive careers, Lawler vs. Cowboy is a mouthwatering outing for the fans and hopefully UFC would make it happen in 2017.
