UFC 218: Holloway vs Aldo 2 (Results)
UFC 218 delivered a dazzling night of fights—violence personified from top to bottom.
Max Holloway cemented his place as the world’s best Featherweight, dismantling Jose Aldo in a similar fashion to their first fight. Besides, Francis Ngannou scored a scary knockout win over legendary Heavyweight Alistair Overeem. Fans and pundits were worried initially as Overeem was unconscious for quite some time and not responding. Nevertheless, ‘The Reem’ seems to be alright.
Additionally, Alvarez vs. Gaethje was an excellent showing, as was Medeiros vs. Oliveira. UFC 218 was perhaps one of 2017’s best fight cards. So, without further ado, here are the results for UFC 218: Holloway vs. Aldo 2—
#Main Card
#1 Max Holloway vs. Jose Aldo
Max Holloway’s rematch with Jose Aldo went down somewhat similar to their first encounter.
Nevertheless, Aldo used more leg kicks than the last time around, but his stubbornness of standing in the phone booth with the younger, more durable fighter, perhaps contributed the most to his undoing in this UFC Featherweight Championship matchup. Holloway ripped several slick punches to Aldo’s body in the first two rounds; capping off a dominant performance with a vicious assault in Round 3. Holloway had the better cardio and distance management; leading to him walking away with the UFC title yet again.
Result: Max Holloway def. Jose Aldo via TKO (Punches) (Round 3, 4:51)
#2 Francis Ngannou vs. Alistair Overeem
Francis Ngannou obliterated Overeem in truly fearsome fashion.
The Reem seemed badly hurt way after the fight was called off, and he’s got Ngannou’s punching power and precision to thank for that. Ngannou versus Stipe Miocic for the UFC Heavyweight Championship seems to be next.
The fight didn’t last too long, but Ngannou’s fleet-footedness was most definitely visible early and often before he landed an uppercut which felled Overeem like a tree.
Result: Francis Ngannou def. Alistair Overeem via KO (Punch) (Round 1, 1:42)
