UFC 220 Results: Miocic vs. Ngannou
UFC 220 saw the old lions retain their respective titles against a couple of younger, dangerous KO artists.
While Stipe Miocic had a tough 5-round fight, particularly grueling early on, against ‘The Predator’, Daniel Cormier proved his mettle in the co-main event of the evening.
Several other intriguing matchups also transpired on the card. So, without further ado, here are the results for UFC 220—
#Main Card (PPV)
#1 Stipe Miocic vs. Francis Ngannou
Stipe Miocic took some big shots in Round 1 from Francis Ngannou, however, the former’s chin held up throughout the exchanges.
Furthermore, despite taking control of the rhythm and pace of the matchup, Miocic ate a huge punch from Ngannou in Round 3, following which he took a more wrestle-heavy approach to the matchup, more so than in the first couple of rounds.
While Miocic tired in Round 5, Ngannou was totally spent by Round 3 itself. The fight saw both fighters leave it all inside the Octagon, with Miocic’s grappling, technical striking and composure helping him take a clear-cut but tough decision victory.
Miocic broke the UFC Heavyweight Division curse and became the first man to ever successfully defend the UFC Heavyweight title for 3 consecutive times.
Result: Stipe Miocic def. Francis Ngannou via Unanimous Decision (50-44, 50-44, 50-44)
