UFC 287 final ride for Israel Adesanya, Conor McGregor's controversial opinion on school shootings, Hasbulla defends cat abuse: MMA News Roundup

Welcome to today's edition of Sportskeeda's daily MMA News Roundup, where we present the biggest UFC updates and other stories from the world of mixed martial arts.

In today's issue, we talk about Israel Adesanya's shocking revelation about the rematch with Alex Pereira, Hasbulla Magomedov's statement on social media backlash, and more.

#3. "This is my last shot" - Israel Adesanya on UFC 287

The storied rivalry between Israel Adesanya and Alex Pereira will go down in the MMA history books, regardless of what happens in the rematch.

It is said that even the greatest of warriors have a kryptonite that they can't overcome. For 'The Last Stylebender', it seems to be 'Poatan'. The Brazilian hunted Adesanya down, metaphorically speaking, to rekindle the feud from their kickboxing days and proved that he was still the better of the two at UFC 281.

Losing his much-treasured middleweight belt to an arch-nemesis is not something Adesanya may have envisioned. However, he's prepared to put everything on the line to reclaim his throne at UFC 287.

Speaking about his mindset going into the fight, Adesanya stated in a video uploaded to his YouTube channel that this could be his last shot at middleweight gold:

"It’s kind of poetic in a way. One life, roll the dice. This is my last shot, and I’m going to give it all I’ve got in every sense of the word."

#2. Conor McGregor wants armed guards at schools to prevent shootings

Conor McGregor has a somewhat unconventional solution to America's school shooting problem.

In a recent tweet praising the AMBER alert system, the Irishman claimed that he had personal bodyguards present around the building when his children went to school in the States:

"I would like to see armed protection at each school also. I have had my children at school here while stateside and have had my own armed guard present at the school."

He went on to describe how his covert security personnel would have taken down the Nashville school shooter had they been there.

The UFC star has since deleted the tweet. You can read the full post here.

#1. "If I didn't love the cat, I wouldn't have it at home" - Hasbulla on facing backlash over pet abuse

Dagestani internet sensation Hasbulla Magomedov recently faced a lot of criticism online for hitting his cat Barsik and pulling her ears. Fans were enraged at Hasbulla's actions and many even called for his 'cancellation'.

He finally took to social media to explain his side of the matter.

Hasbulla stated that he was only disciplining the cat and condemned the masses for attacking him.

Take a look at his statement below:

A series of tweets posted by a fan account showed the full story along with context. The last tweet on the thread showed Hasbulla patting the cat and the cat appreciating the affection.
