UFC: CM Punk to train at the Roufusport Gym
Reports have surfaced that Phil “CM Punk” Brooks, the former WWE champion who recently signed with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has chosen to train at the Roufusport gym, run by Duke Roufus, one of the best trainers in the world today. Duke Roufus was a former American kickboxer and had won numerous world titles, including the KICK Super Heavyweight world title.
Roufusport is also the home for some of the best mixed martial artists in the world, including the current ONE FC Welterweight champion, Ben “Funky” Askren, as well as the current UFC Lightweight champion, Anthony “Showtime” Pettis. Punk will have the opportunity to train with the very best in the world, and although it was earlier believed that Punk would train at the Gracie Academy, Punk has chosen to train under the tutelage of Duke Roufus.
The news about Punk training at the Roufusport training facility was given by Front Row Brian, an internet MMA personality, who had previously reported several other stories. It makes sense for Punk to train at Roufusport gym, which is based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin which is just a 90 minute trek from Punk’s home in Chicago. It was also noted that Punk will start training for his first MMA fight from January 5th, and is expected to make his debut inside the Octagon in late 2015.
