UFC middleweight Chris Curtis reacts after receiving "ton of angry a** messages" from Mongolian fans mistaking him for Geoff Neal
UFC middleweight contender Chris Curtis recently shared his experience of receiving numerous angry messages from Mongolian fans who had mistaken him for another fighter, Geoff Neal.
Despite having no connection to Neal, Chris Curtis was inundated with messages from irate Mongolian fans who had mistakenly attributed him to UFC welterweigh Neal's comments on Shavkat Rakhmonov. However, he took the incident in stride, recognizing that it was simply a case of mistaken identity and not a reflection of his abilities as a fighter.
The 185-pounder took to Twitter to clarify the situation and wrote:
"Lmao I woke up to a ton of angry a** messages from the Mongolian fans... Guys, I am not Geoff Neal. Black history month has been over for 1 whole day and the internet is back to wildin' out..."
In a surprising turn of events, it was revealed that the fans who flooded Chris Curtis' inbox with angry messages were not Mongolian fans, as originally believed, but rather fans of Shavkat Rakhmonov from Kazakhstan.
The messages were sent following Neal's audacious comments about his next opponent. While interacting with journalists at UFC 285 media day, 'Handz of Steel' went all out on Shavkat Rakhmonov and questioned the Kazakh mixed martial artist's hype building up to the bout. He stated:
"We're just gonna see on Saturday to see what's the hype about. I want to see who the unstoppable shaft guy is."
