UFC/MMA News: Dana White comments on a potential UFC return for Chuck Liddell
What’s the story?
In a recent interview with TMZ Sports, UFC President Dana White gave his take on a potential return to the Octagon for UFC Hall of Famer and former Light Heavyweight Champion Chuck Liddell.
In case you didn’t know…
With a Professional MMA record of 21-wins-to-8-losses, former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Chuck Liddell is considered as one of the most exceptional fighters of all time who has stepped foot into the world of Mixed Martial Arts.
Liddell, who made his debut for the UFC as part of UFC 17, back in 1998, has competed in some of the most memorable fights in the Octagon during his tenure with the promotion, where he has earned some unforgettable wins over the likes Wanderlei Silva and Randy Couture.
The heart of the matter
Dana White recently told TMZ that he is apparently not going to allow Chuck Liddell to fight in the UFC once again due to the love and respect he has for “The Iceman”. White stated that he loves and cares too much about Liddell and as a good friend of his, White believes that Chuck should stay away from a potential return to the UFC.
“I love Chuck Liddell. I love him. And as a friend, I don’t think he should fight.”- Dana White stated.
Additionally, Dana White also said that Chuck Liddell is almost 50-years-old and it will be best for “The Iceman” to rather stay away from the MMA cage and MMA fights at this age.
What’s next?
Chuck Liddell, on the other hand, has claimed that he could possibly be cleared by the UFC doctors, which will eventually allow “The Iceman” to compete in the UFC once again, after an absence of almost eight years from the world of Mixed Martial Arts.
Author’s Take
There is no reason whatsoever for Chuck Liddell to step into the MMA cage once again at this age. Liddell has proved his worth to this sport for the past several years and there is no reason for him to get back into MMA.
