UFC/MMA Rumors: CM Punk's next UFC fight almost confirmed

I
It could be clobberin’ time again

What’s the story?

Multiple MMA sources are reporting that it seems like former WWE Champion CM Punk may be finally ready to climb back into the octagon as UFC officials are said to be currently discussing booking CM Punk vs. Mike Jackson for the UFC 225 show on June 9 in Punk's home of Chicago.

In case you didn’t know…

Dana White has been going back and forth on whether or not CM Punk would fight for UFC again. Dana said shortly after Punk's loss to Mickey Gall at UFC 203 in September 2016, that he was open to Punk fighting again, but would later say if it did happen, it wouldn't be for UFC. Most recently, as you can tell by these new rumors, Dana is once again open to the idea of Puck fighting for UFC at least once more.

Mike Jackson was actually who Mickey Gall defeated back in February 2016 for the right to face CM Punk in Punk's debut. Jackson had been campaigning to face Punk ever since Punk lost.

The heart of the matter

Discussions for the potential fight are in the early stages with no final decision made just yet. Shortly after UFC announced the show would be taking place in Chicago, CM Punk immediately Tweeted about the event, starting the speculation that he may have a fight. Punk has continued to train at Roufusport in Milwaukee in hopes of getting another fight ever since his loss to Gall, and has been campaigning pretty hard with UFC to do so.

What’s next?

UFC 225 will be held on June 9, 2018, in the United Center in Chicago Chicago. As of this writing, no fights have been announced.

Author’s Take

CM Punk wants this fight to happen, Mike Jackson wants this fight to happen, many fans seem to want this fight to happen, and the UFC seem to like the idea of this fight happening. At this point, I would already be surprised if this bout didn't happen.
