UFC News: Brock Lesnar handed suspension and fine for failed UFC 200 drug test

Former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar has finally been dealt his suspension

The Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) has finally given former UFC heavyweight champion and former WWE champion Brock Lesnar his punishment for his failed drug test after his UFC 200 co-main event fight with Mark Hunt.

Lesnar has been given a one-year suspension along with a $250,000 fine after reaching an agreement with the Nevada attorney’s general office. Lesnar had tested positive for Hydroxy-clomiphene, an estrogen blocker, twice.

The first test stemmed from an out of competition test administered by the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) on June 28th before the bout, while the second was from a test administered directly after the contest that he had won via unanimous decision.

While that night Lesnar’s hand was raised as the victor in the bout, the ruling will now be overturned to a No Contest. Lesnar’s fine of $250,000 is equal to 10 percent of his $2.5 million disclosed fight purse.

Lesnar is currently 39 years old, and while the freakish athletic specimen is one of the most legendary fighters to have ever stepped into the UFC’s Octagon, MMA fans may just have witnessed Lesnar’s last fight inside the Octagon against Hunt that night in the T-Mobile Arena.

Amidst all of this, Lesnar’s opponent Hunt has been extremely livid over the entire incident and intends to pursue legal action against the UFC, as he believes that his life was legitimately in danger fighting against a man who was on steroids.

Only time will tell which direction does Hunt’s legal action towards the UFC end up taking, we’ll keep you updated as the situation progresses.
