UFC News: CM Punk confident that his next fight will be in UFC
One of the big stories in MMA and professional wrestling this year was the debut of CM Punk at UFC 203. Punk faced Mickey Gall and was submitted in the first round. Due to the ease of Gall’s victory over Punk, UFC President Dana White said that CM Punk “probably shouldn’t fight in the UFC”.
However, CM Punk who was on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani yesterday said that he is confident that he will fight in the UFC again. He said that while he believes he will get another shot to fight in “the big leagues” of MMA, the decision is ultimately up to Dana White.
He said that he had a conversation with Dana White and said that he would understand if the UFC were to cut him off, but intends to fight anyway, whether it is in UFC or not.
Punk said that he wants to fight again and is back to the drawing board, and just two days after his UFC 203 defeat, he was back training in Roufusport in Milwaukee, Wisconson. Punk said that if he does fight again in UFC, it will likely be in February or March.
Punk also noted that he did not watch a tape of his defeat to Gall because he knew exactly what he did wrong.

CM Punk was paid $500,000 for his fight against Mickey Gall (who earned an estimated $30,000). Mickey Gall is set to face young upstart Sage Northcutt in UFC On Fox 22, which takes place on December 17th. The card is set to be headlined by Paige VanZant and Michelle Waterson, and the co-main event will see veteran Urijah Faber taking on Brad Pickett.
