In case you didn't know...
Daniel Cormier defended his UFC Heavyweight Title against Derrick Lewis in the main event of UFC 230. The fight was one extremely hyped up from the get go, with Lewis having knocked out Alexander Volkov at UFC 229.
The fight was announced with hardly a month for either fighter to prepare for it, bit they still delivered.
Daniel Cormier recently talked about retiring from the UFC and revealed that he would do so by the 20th of March, 2019. This is a decision, which while he is not looking forward to, he is determined to stick.
The heart of the matter
While some fans were hoping that Daniel Cormier's children would be able to talk him out of retiring, Cormier revealed that his daughter had an extremely touching reaction after seeing Derrick Lewis at the end of Cormier's fight.
Cormier said that his children loved his fights, and the excitement present in the arenas, but his daughter did not like the other side that was present in his fights.
"(My daughter) goes, ‘Mom.’ And my wife goes, ‘What?’ She goes, ‘I feel really bad for Derrick. He looks sad.’ So, like, they got to see the other side."
Cormier said that his daughter was very sensitive, and after seeing Lewis 'sad' after losing to her father, would not want her father to fight again. She had also seen what had happened after the Jones fight, so it would be unlikely that she would want him to fight again.
What's next?
Daniel Cormier's last fight might be in danger with Roman Reigns stepping away from WWE. Instead, he may end up facing Jon Jones or Stipe Miocic at UFC 235.
