UFC News: Henderson ready for a third fight with Bisping, for the right amount of money
Dan Henderson was on the brink of retirement before fighting Michael Bisping for the UFC Middleweight Championship. He fell short of victory, despite landing two H-Bombs during the fight.
Now that Henderson is retired its safe for Bisping to think that the score is now even, right? Think again. The MMA legend recently revealed his intentions to come out of retirement if he was offered a big paycheck for a trilogy fight with ‘The Count’.
The former Pride champion expressed his intentions on his blog, Champions.co:
“If this fight had happened last year, and I hadn’t decided to make it my retirement fight, the fans would have demanded a trilogy. Hell, I’m pretty pissed off right now, and for the right money, I’m pretty sure I could be talked into the rubber match, not that I think he would accept another invitation to get beat up again.”
“At the same time, I’m content with what I’ve done and in knowing, if only in my heart, that I won that fight,” he added.
Hendo has proved to everyone that he is dangerous even at the age of 46. Before his battle with Bisping, he destroyed Hector Lombard with a vicious elbow, and now, he has second thoughts about his retirement. Furthermore, Henderson still believes he won his last fight.
“I still haven’t reconciled myself with the scoring the judges put forth for my fight with Michael Bisping. I finally got around to watching the video of it last night, and I’ll admit, I’m pretty pissed about it. I was going to say frustrated, but that doesn’t quite cover the range of feelings I’ve got right now.”
Henderson then spoke about the outcome of the fight, referring to Bisping damage he secured on his face. He felt that he had disfigured the count.
“I don’t know what type of fight anyone’s ever witnessed or been in, whether it be in a school yard, a professional arena or in a bar, where if one opponent looks like Mike did if he looks like a guy that got his ass kicked…he probably did get his ass kicked. He’d probably be called by everyone the loser of the fight,” he wrote.
Then former Pride Champion spoke about the ten-point boxing system comparing its functioning in his match, and how it varied from a boxing match.
“I’m almost positive that in boxing—which is where MMA got its 10 point must system—if one guy knocks the other guy down, it’s considered a 10-8 round. According to boxing rules, where this sport’s rules originated, I would’ve gotten a 10-8 score in two rounds.”

Yes, it’s true that in a boxing match, knockdowns would secure the two-point advantage but in MMA it doesn’t count for much. To win the round with two-points advantage, one has to dominate his or her opponent throughout the round.
Hendo has stated that only ‘multiple millions’ of dollars would lure him back to the Octagon. Why not give Mr H-Bomb another shot at the gold to seal a final chapter between the ‘Count’ and the former Olympian?
