Conor McGregor is expected to return to the Octagon soon; however, the UFC have still not revealed a date or his opponent.

During his interview with Ariel Helwani, McGregor had a few interesting names in mind, and one of those was Frankie Edgar. It was revealed earlier this week that Conor McGregor had turned down the opportunity to face Edgar multiple times before.

Edgar, however, is aggressively pushing for a fight against the biggest cash cow in MMA.

Frankie Edgar was interviewed by TMZSports during which he sent out a clear message for the Notorious One.

“Hey let’s stop faking the funk. Don’t just say it, let’s follow through on it and get it done. I’m game any weight, any time, we could do it really anywhere. That’s a fight that you get remembered for.”

Edgar doesn't matter what weight it happens at, as he's even ready to put on a few extra pounds and take on McGregor at Welterweight.

“It’s no secret Conor’s the biggest star in the sport or at least one of them,” Edgar said. “With that comes a lot of attention. He’s gonna be remembered, for sure, twenty years from now and I want to have that guy on my record.
I’ll fight wherever he wants to fight. We can do it at welterweight if he feels. He’s gonna be bigger than me no matter where we fight at so, I’m game. I’ve been trying to watch my weight a little bit knowing that bantamweight is coming but I wouldn’t mind pouring some pounds on now.” H/t Credit: MMAMania

What happens next with Conor McGregor and Frankie Edgar?

Edgar last took on Max Holloway in a losing effort for the UFC Featherweight title at UFC 240 in July. We all know what happened the last time McGregor stepped inside the Octagon. The former UFC Double Champion got mauled by Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229 in October 2018.

Frankie Edgar had previously committed to moving down to the Bantamweight division, but his priorities seem to have changed now. The Answer wants the money fight, and it doesn't get any bigger than McGregor.

However, the Notorious One would rather prefer getting a shot at retribution against Nurmagomedov before he indulges in a few dream fights.
