UFC News: Joe Rogan reveals who Jorge Masvidal should be fighting next and it's not Conor McGregor
Jorge Masvidal perhaps has the most momentum in the UFC today alongside Israel Adesanya and he's the only one to have this level of hype without a title. The "BMF" Champion has openly stated that it isn't the title he's necessarily interested in fighting for, but the next fight he takes will be the one with the "most zeroes" on his paycheque.
With that said, he's hopeful for a Nick Diaz return as the former Strikeforce Champion hinted at wanting to come back to fight Masvidal to take revenge for his little brother Nate Diaz. Nick Diaz hasn't fought in years and hasn't had the desire to either, but it seems like Jorge Masvidal has caught his attention.
Conor McGregor is another name who has stated his desire to fight Masvidal, according to Dana White, so it's clear that big money options are lying ahead for Gamebred. Despite all of that, UFC commentator Joe Rogan believes that Masvidal should be facing the winner of Kamaru Usman vs Colby Covington for the Welterweight Championship.
It's no secret that Masvidal should be next in line for a title shot, but it's up to what he wants now. Rogan spoke about it on his podcast the Joe Rogan Experience, saying:
“I see why he would say that but I think it would be a real shame if right now in his prime of primes, he didn’t fight for the title. I just feel like he’s so close. He’s huge right now.”
When asked whether he would rather see Masvidal facing Conor McGregor or Nick Diaz, Rogan said "No" and continued:
“Well, I wanna see first no matter what Colby and Usman. Yes, super excited about that. Once that’s done, I want Masvidal to fight for the title whoever’s got the belt. I think if Masvidal and Nick Diaz don’t fight on the undercard, I don’t even know if they actually made that. I have no idea. If they do make that fight happen, I mean of course I’m gonna be excited to see it. Of course, but my thoughts are that right now we’re experiencing Masvidal in this very strange zone where you see fighters enter into it whether it’s through this rededication or refocusing of his intent and his discipline.”
Masvidal is in a very interesting place career-wise and he has never had the momentum that he's currently enjoying. Hopefully, he's able to ride this wave and it translates to the biggest paycheques of his career. Ultimately, that's what he wants and that's all there is to it.
