UFC News: Kelvin Gastelum calls out former champion for a big fight
Kelvin Gastelum desperately needs a win to get back into the running for a potential Middleweight title shot as the No.7 ranked fighter is coming off two damaging losses.
Gastelum realizes that he needs to make all the right noises and he did exactly that on Twitter by calling out Robert Whittaker.
Gastelum was originally scheduled to take on Whittaker at UFC 234 in February, however, the Australian had to pull out of the fight hours before the event due to an emergency Hernia surgery.
Gastelum has since gone on to face Israel Adesanya and Darren Till this year. Kelvin was convincingly beaten by The Last Stylebender via unanimous decision at UFC 236 before dropping a split decision fight in Darren Till's Middleweight debut at UFC 244.
Whittaker himself needs to bounce back from his recent title defeat to Adesanya and from the UFC matchmakers' point of view, Whittaker vs. Gastelum makes a lot of sense on paper.
UFC will return to the O2 Arena in London in March next year and a fight between Till and Whittaker was reportedly on the cards.
However, Gastelum wants to tend to some unfinished business and get his hands on The Reaper first.
The UFC has two possible fights on their hands, but which one should they go with?
