UFC News: Kevin Lee predicts the outcome of a potential fight between Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov
What’s the story?
While recently speaking with MMAnytt.se, UFC’s top Lightweight fighter Kevin Lee evidently made a very bold prediction as he claimed that current UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor is capable of knocking out Khabib Nurmagomedov if the two men ever lock horns in the Octagon in the near future.
In case you didn’t know…
With the likes of Conor McGregor, Nate Diaz, Khabib Nurmagomedov, Tony Ferguson and more; the UFC’s Lightweight Division is definitely one of the most stacked and standout divisions in today’s world of Mixed Martial Arts.
Kevin Lee, who is currently ranked at No.7 in the 155-pound-division, is also one of the fastest rising stars in the UFC today and whereas, on the other hand, both Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov have already established themselves as two of the pioneers of the UFC Lightweight division.
The heart of the matter
“The Mowton Phenom” Kevin Lee believes that Conor McGregor is indeed capable of getting the best out of the undefeated Khabib Nurmagomedov and claims that “The Notorious One” will shock the entire world by pulling off a huge upset win over “The Eagle”, if the two men ever square off in the UFC Octagon, sometime down the road.
Lee stated that Khabib Nurmagomedov is very hittable and has a lot of inaccuracies in his game, which the Russian fighter is currently not willing to fix.
Additionally, “The Mowton Phenom,” said, Khabib is the type of fighter who doesn’t compete very often in the Octagon and there is apparently “no evolution” in Nurmagomedov’s game, so there is a strong possibility of him getting knocked out in a fight against Conor McGregor.
“The Khabib that showed up against Edson was the same one that showed up against RDA like six years ago.”- Lee stated.
What’s next?
Kevin Lee’s next fight in the Octagon is scheduled against Edson Barboza, who himself is coming off a loss against Khabib.
Meanwhile, Nurmagomedov is slated to fight current Interim Champion Tony Ferguson for the 155-pound interim belt at UFC 223.
Author’s Take
There is no secret to the fact that Conor McGregor’s wrestling game is a bit weak and as we all know, Khabib’s wrestling is by far one of the best ground games in today’s UFC. In my opinion, McGregor will definitely have a hard time with the Russian fighter but we shouldn’t count out the Irishman completely.
