UFC News: McGregor's coach John Kavanagh speaks on McGregor getting KO'd whilst training.

McGregor embraces his guru after he wins the title!

The UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor never fails to make the headlines. But a rumour regarding his training mishap almost deteriorated his image online.

Rumours had surfaced online that the Mystic Mac was knocked out while he was sparring with a training partner back in the Straight Blast Gym in Ireland. Neither McGregor nor his team had responded to the rumours until now.

McGregor’s coach John Kavanagh opened up on the incident and clarified that McGregor isn’t hurt. The Grand Master of SBG Ireland spoke to The42.ie regarding the situation:

He was quoted as saying:

“That’s what he was doing that day, it was a rest day, and I knew he had that commission hearing or whatever. And he swung by the gym that evening. I said to him, that’s a rough day, $150,000 fine, and you got knocked out in training. So we kind of had a giggle about it.”

According to Kavanagh, some unknown person texted or tweeted a US-based website stating that McGregor was knocked out during training and the rumours quickly spread like wildfire on social media. Kavanagh confirmed that McGregor was fine. It was only a joke which appears to have been misinterpreted by someone else.

The Notorious one is the biggest draw in the promotion. He will square off against Eddie Alvarez for the UFC Lightweight Championship at UFC 205 in Madison Square Garden, New York as he attempts to make history by becoming the first fighter to hold UFC titles in two divisions simultaneously.

But unfortunately for McGregor, UFC President Dana White has stated that he will have to give up one of the titles after the match. Though McGregor seemed a little reluctant about this initially, he later took a softer stance on the decision.
