UFC News: Real Madrid stadium wants to host McGregor-headlined UFC card
UFC featherweight champion, Conor McGregor, is becoming a bigger star every single day. The Irishman’s brash trash talk has given him the spotlight, thrusting the SBG Ireland product onto the top of the mixed martial arts (MMA) mountain.
After downing longtime UFC featherweight champion, Jose Aldo, in the main event of UFC 194 in December, McGregor has been exposed to a wider margin of super stardom. This showed when he was visited by football star Cristiano Ronaldo, who plays for Real Madrid.
Now it seems McGregor’s friendship with the multiple time Balon D’Or winner, has given him one yet another amazing opportunity. Ronaldo’s club’s stadium, The Santiago Bernabeu, has expressed interest in hosting a McGregor headlined UFC event according to a report from Irish Radio station Newstalk.
A spokesperson for the club who spoke exclusively to Newstalk.com, said, they would “be glad if we could make a UFC event; our stadium can hold more than 80,000 fans.”
McGregor must first get through a tough test, in the form of UFC 155 pound champion, Eddie Alvarez, who will meet the Irishman in the main event of UFC 205. The monumental card will take place live from New York City’s Madison Square Garden arena, next month on November 12th.
If McGregor is to win, he will be the first man in UFC history to hold two titles in different weight classes at the same time.
