UFC News: Valentina Shevchenko to defend Women's Flyweight Title against Katlyn Chookagian at UFC 247
Not only did the UFC announce Jon Jones' next title defense on social media but the promotion has now confirmed that reigning UFC Women's Flyweight Champion Valentina Shevchenko will also be defending her title on the 8th of February against Katlyn Chookagian.
Valentina Shevchenko's current reign as UFC Women's Flyweight Champion
At UFC 231, Valentina Shevchenko won the UFC Women's Flyweight Championship by defeating the returning Joanna Jer for the vacant title in a back-and-forth fight that ended in a win for 'Bullet' via unanimous decision.
Following her first title win in the UFC, Shevchenko defended her title against Jessica Eye at UFC 238 and for her next title defense, the former retained her strap against Liz Carmouche in the main event of UFC on ESPN 14+ in another fight that the champion won via split decision.
Shevchenko vs Chookagian officially confirmed
As announced by the UFC on social media, Valentina Shevchenko will be making her return to the Octagon on the very same day as reigning UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones, as the former is set to defend her UFC Women's Flyweight Championship against Katlyn Chookagian on 8th February in Houston, Texas.
The fight will serve as the co-main event of UFC 247, which will be headlined by the returning Jon Jones, who is now all set to defend his UFC Light Heavyweight Championship against the unbeaten Dominick Reyes.
