UFC star claims he has the tools to beat Jon Jones

Jon Jones recently returned to the octagon after a three-year layoff and still managed to showcase to the world why he's considered the greatest by so many. But that didn't stop a rising UFC star from claiming he can beat 'Bones'.

The Hall of Famer was scrutinized and doubted during his absence from the cage. Although he didn't look at his sharpest, it took no time for him to silence those who didn't believe in him. Just two minutes into his highly-anticipated clash against Ciryl Gane, the 35-year-old locked in a submission to begin his heavyweight reign.

While discussing Jon Jones, UFC fan favorite Tom Aspinall has insisted that when he rightfully earns his shot at the champion, he believes he has the tools to beat him, saying:

"I'm ready for it... There's gonna be people laughing about it... But I'm very serious about beating Jon Jones."

Tom Aspinall has quickly risen to stardom inside the UFC heavyweight division after signing with the promotion in 2020. He begun life in the company with a huge debut TKO victory agaisnt Jake Collier in under a minute. The Brit then went on to finish Alan Baudot, Andrei Arlovski, and Sergei Spivak on the way to his first main event spot.

The 29-year-old didn't disappoint in his first headliner as he delivered a spectacular performance against the always-dangerous Alexander Volkov. He submitted the Russian within 3:45 minutes of the first round.

Five straight wins in the UFC earned Aspinall his biggest test yet, a monumental matchup against Curtis Blaydes at UFC London in July 2022. Unfortunately, for the athlete and viewers, the Greater Manchester native suffered a serious injury just 15 seconds in, ending the bout prematurely.

Jon Jones next fight: Is Tom Aspinall on the list of potential opponents?

While Tom Aspinall has made a name for himself in the division, he will not be the next man to stand across the octagon from one of the greatest fighters to ever compete in the sport.

Instead, Jon Jones will likely put his newly acquired heavyweight strap on the line against former long-reigning champion Stipe Miocic, in a blockbuster clash rumored to get underway during International Fight Week.

Aspinall too has a bout agreement signed, with reports all suggesting that he will get his way after earlier calling out Marcin Tybura, a dangerous finishing threat who has won seven of his last eight outings.

Yo @stipemiocic only you the UFC and I know the truth, you dodged me all of 2022 - July, September & December.
Now Iā€™m hearing rumors that we may not be fighting this July.
