What happened between Floyd Mayweather and 50 Cent? Reason why the former friends fell outÂ
Boxing icon Floyd Mayweather Jr. and US rapper 50 Cent were once inseparable at the heights of their fame. The pair were ever present at the height of the other's success, with each either ringside or backstage at a concert supporting their friend.
Unfortunately, things eventually turned sour between the two stars and led to a very bitter and public feud. Both Mayweather and 50 Cent played their part as to the reasons why, and each acted in ways they have both since admitted to regret.
On that note, let's take a look at the reasons why these two former friends fell out.
What happened between Floyd Mayweather and 50 Cent?
Floyd Mayweather and 50 Cent were as close as friends could be in the early 2000s. After over a decade of friendship, the pair were present for some of the biggest occasions in each other's lives, including 50 Cent helping to organize Mayweather's 30th birthday party in Las Vegas back in 2007.
The two friends seemingly never had an issue with one another, however, that changed in 2012 when 'Money' was sent to prison and made to serve a three-month sentence for misdemeanor domestic battery.
In Mayweather's absence, the US rapper was tasked with heading up the boxer's promotional company, 'The Money Team', where he worked to promote fighters as well as sign up-and-coming talent.
Upon Floyd Mayweather's release, 50 Cent then claimed that he was owed over $2 million for his work over the three months, but he allegedly never received a dime.
The two stars were then locked into a dispute that dissolved their friendship, with the fallout leaking into the public as they resorted to trading personal blows at the other's expense.
Perhaps the most significant part of the feud was when 50 Cent claimed Mayweather couldn't read, and released a video on his social media offering the boxer $750,000 to a charity of his choice if he could read a page from a Harry Potter book.

Mayweather never accepted the 'challenge' and instead clapped back by taking aim at 50 Cent's parenting, claiming that his oldest son didn't love him. The boxer then allegedly offered the rapper $1 million if he could record his son saying it.
Floyd Mayweather also went on to claim 50 Cent had herpes.
Despite the animosity between them, 50 Cent confirmed back in 2022 the pair had buried the hatchet after their multi-year feud.
Speaking to Breakfast Club Power 105.1 FM, the 49-year-old revealed he and Floyd Mayweather met up in Las Vegas and finally hashed out their issues.
