Sean O'Malley is a 29-year-old professional fighter from America competing in the bantamweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), where he reigns as the champion of the weight class. He made his professional MMA debut in 2015 and has had 20 bouts in his career so far. He has also made a professional boxing debut dating back to 2016, which he won via a TKO in the first round of a four-round matchup.

Before signing up with the Ultimate Fighting Championship, O'Malley had competed in promotions, namely Intense Championship Fighting, EB: Beatdown, and LFA. He got his UFC contract by defeating Alfred Khashakyan via a first-round knockout at Dana White's Contender Series 2 in 2017. And later, his promotional debut happened at The Ultimate Fighter, where he had a decision win over Terrion Ware on December 1, 2017. O'Malley defeated the former UFC bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling at UFC 292 for the title on August 19, 2023, to become the new champion of the division. On March 9, 2024, O'Malley defended his belt at UFC 299 and avenged his only loss against Marlon Vera.
