The Jones-Miocic fight was set to be the heavyweight champion's first title defense. While many were excited to see 'Bones' go up against one of the greatest heavyweight champions of all time, some pointed out that Miocic was way past his prime, and the matchup was unfair.

With Jon Jones out of his UFC 295 headliner, Dana White announced that Sergei Pavlovich and Tom Aspinall will go head to head for the interim heavyweight championship. Pavlovich is currently on an incredible six-fight winning streak, with each of his wins coming via first-round knockout. The No.2-ranked heavyweight contender beat Curtis Blaydes at UFC Vegas 71 in April.

On the other hand, Tom Aspinall has established himself as one of the most popular English MMA fighters today and has a UFC record of 7-1. The No.4-ranked heavyweight contender is coming off an impressive first-round TKO win over Marcin Tybura.

Despite the disappointment of Jon Jones vs. Stipe Miocic being scrapped, there is no doubt that fans will be eager to see fast-rising heavyweight contenders like Sergei Pavlovich and Tom Aspinall earn their title shot. Only time will tell which one of the two mercurial heavyweights faces Jones in a title unification bout.

As for the UFC 295 headliner, Alex Pereira will face Jiri Prochazka for the vacant light heavyweight title.
