When Dricus du Plessis sent shockwaves across the MMA universe after kissing his male coach on the mouth

Current UFC middleweight champion Dricus du Plessis once got into the spotlight due to his interaction with coach Morne Visser after a fight.

'Stillknocks' locked horns against Robert Whittaker at UFC 290 in July 2023 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Du Plessis got the better of 'The Reaper' with a TKO victory in the second round.

After the fight, the South African celebrated by kissing his coach Visser on the mouth.

The visuals took the internet by storm as many MMA fans were left confused by the South African's actions.

MMA fighters and fans also started bringing UFC commentator Daniel Cormier into the situation. This included Kevin Holland, who claimed that Cormier felt uncomfortable by the interaction between 'Stillknocks' and his coach.

Cameron Saaiman, another South African UFC fighter, has also been seen kissing his coach on the mouth after fights. 'MSP' explained that the action was not a big deal in African culture and it was seen as a greeting.

"In African culture, that's how we were brought up. Like, to greet your father or even your grandfather with a kiss... But I can imagine people watching the fight, knockout and then kissing your coach like what? Maybe it's just not a big cultural thing in other countries."
