When Joe Rogan explained how "full communist" California pushed him away from his "blue bubble" political beliefs
In an episode of his podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience, Joe Rogan detailed his reasons for leaving California and relocating to Texas.
Rogan, a vocal critic of his former home state, used the platform to lambast California's perceived shift towards an "authoritarian left-wing dystopia" and "full communist" ideology.
While Rogan's political views lean libertarian, he doesn't shy away from engaging with various ideologies. He supports free speech, legalized marijuana, universal healthcare, LGBTQ+ rights, and gun ownership. However, he has become increasingly critical of cancel culture and communist policies.
The podcast host confessed to being part of the "blue bubble" in the past, residing in Los Angeles and aligning with left-wing views.
"Well, I used to be a part of the blue bubble... I was one hundred percent a left-leaning person who lived in Los Angeles. I never voted Republican, my whole life was very left-leaning, especially with like any social issues. When it comes to financial things, I’m a little bit more conservative, but at the end of the day, I’m way more left than I am right."
However, he claimed California's political landscape had become unrecognizable. Rogan criticized the state's handling of law enforcement and said:
“But California went nuts, man, it’s gone like full communist. It’s out of its f**king mind... And their approach to law enforcement is so insane. It’s so insane. The no cash bail, the letting people out for committing violent crimes, the f**kin’ not stopping people for stealing up to whatever money it is"
Rogan also criticized San Francisco's struggles with crime and business closures, painting a picture of a city in decline.

Joe Rogan and guest Sam Tallent take a hilarious wrong turn with smelling salts on the podcast
In a classic Joe Rogan Experience moment, the host and his guest, comedian Sam Tallent, took a wild detour during their podcast recording. The incident involved smelling salts, substances typically used to revive unconscious people or energize athletes.
The incident began with Rogan accidentally burning his eye with hot sauce and lamenting his situation.
"I was eating something with ghost peppers today and I forgot I had it on my hand and I just wiped my eye."
Tallent responded with a quip:
"At least you didn't touch your d**k."
Rogan's producer, Young Jamie, offered an eye-dropper. This conversation sparked the idea to use smelling salts, likely inspired by a mention of them on another show.
Needless to say, the strong ammonia resulted in immediate regret and comedic gold.
