When Logan Paul was shocked by “animal” Paulo Costa’s physical prowess after sparring with him: “Beats people’s a**”
YouTuber-turned-professional boxer Logan Paul has come a long way in his combat sports journey despite the perceived lack of competitive relevance of the influencer boxing circuit. 'Maverick' has trained with several elite professional MMA fighters, including UFC middleweight contender Paulo Costa, and shared his thoughts on the Brazilian's physical prowess.
Paul was still a relative newcomer when he sparred with Costa in early 2020. At the time, 'The Eraser' was a highly touted and undefeated contender coming off a hard-fought win over Yoel Romero.
During an episode of the Imapulsive podcast, Paul shared his experience of training with Costa and his observations about the Brazilian's personality:
"We had the whole sparring session, the grappling session with Paulo Costa, who is another animal in himself... I've never met a human being who is more of an animal, an actual animal than Paulo Costa. This dude sleeps 10 to 13 hours a day and just beats people's a** dude."
Paul added that Costa is a 'cool' person but switches on the fighter instincts in a competitive situation. He said:
"But he's cool as f***. Coolest guy I've ever seen. It's a switch, I saw it. Because I interacted with the calm and 'I'm not going to hurt you' Paulo, especially when I was sparring with him [when] he wasn't trying to kill me. And then I saw him at the UFC fight, calling out Izzy and it was like he's ready to go. There was the killer instinct."

When Paulo Costa 'knocked out' Logan Paul in sparring
Logan Paul went to train at the UFC Performance Institute in 2020. The sparring session with Paulo Costa took place during this time. The YouTuber-turned-professional boxer posted the video of this training session on his YouTube channel.
Paul was relatively new in his combat sports journey at the time and appeared to be doing relatively well against Costa. However, a huge overhand right from the Brazilian knocked Paul out upon impact and he went crashing down to the canvas.
