When Sean Brady was ecstatic after getting the win over Craig Jones at Fury Pro Grappling 3: "I couldn't be happier"
Back in 2021, UFC welterweight standout Sean Brady did what most MMA fighters couldn't pull off: beat a Jiujitsu world champion in a submission grappling match. What made the win even more impressive is that he beat Jiujitsu legend and two-time ADCC medalist Craig Jones.
If you're a fan of submission grappling, you'd probably Google this match right away to find out how a ninth-ranked UFC welterweight defeated one of the greatest submission grapplers of our time.
Brady faced Jones in the co-main event of Fury Pro Grappling 3 in December 2021, an event that featured other UFC fighters as well. Clearly an underdog against the grappling icon, Brady shocked everyone by besting Jones via decision due to control.
Speaking to The Schmo backstage right after his win, an ecstatic Brady said:
"I got the win via control and yeah, I'm feeling good. I just beat Craig Jones and that's going to be on my record, so I'm feeling good."
Brady added:
"It's grappling. I literally felt no pressure to go out there. If I lost, I still won because it's f*cking Craig Jones, you know? So I won either way and especially getting the actual win...to win in front of my home crowd [Philadelphia, PA], I couldn't be happier."

Sean Brady to face Gilbert Burns in the main event of UFC Vegas 97
This weekend at UFC Vegas 97 (aka UFC Fight Night 242), Sean Brady will face another Jiujitsu world champion in no.6-ranked UFC welterweight Gilbert 'Durinho' Burns. Like Jones, Burns is a former ADCC medalist and IBJJF world champion (gi and no gi).
After winning nearly every world title in pro grappling, Burns transitioned into MMA full-time in 2012, getting signed by the UFC in 2014. In addition to his dangerous submission skills, 'Durinho' developed a penchant for sending people to the negative zone, scoring six KOs in his MMA career, three in the UFC. His all-around dangerous MMA game brought him to a world title shot in 2021, albeit falling short.
As for Sean Brady, the American fighter is coming off a submission win over former UFC middleweight title challenger Kelvin Gastelum. He currently has a pro record of 16-1, with his only loss coming by way of KO courtesy of reigning UFC welterweight champion Belal Muhammad.
