MMA News: CM Punk few steps away from entering the Octagon, confronts Mickey Gall on the way

The wait is finally over!

The wait seems to be finally over, or almost over. This time, if on a smooth route we will witness the long awaited MMA debut of former WWE Superstar CM Punk at UFC 203 when he’ll go toe to toe with a novice Mickey Gall.

The usual combat sports tradition- a face-off, involving Punk was something that the fans were keen to witness as to see if the former wrestlers would drop a ‘pipe bomb’. Punk and Gall participated in the pre-fight UFC 203 press conference, meeting his foe one last time before laying hands on him in the Octagon.

The former wrestler sounded very confident on his risk-taking transition to MMA from pro-wrestling at the age of 37, always assuring that he’s in the best shape of his life. Despite the unusual appearance of Punk due to the balanced weight cut he’s worked on since his initial training days, one can’t doubt his good spirits, keeping him up and strong.

The idea of him stepping into the cage, and creating an impact was very doubtful in the minds of many, but he’s one of those wrestlers people would love to watch him in a real fight than a ‘staged event’.

The responses that Brooks gave away sounded very assuring to many who questioned his step.

“I’m going to do what I do, what my coaches have trained me to do,” Punk said . “I train with Anthony Pettis, Eric Koch, Gerald Meerschaert, Mike ‘Beggie’ Rhodes, a litany of guys that are way better me so they have been sharpening my skills for months and months and months so I’m ready for Mickey.”

Punk has been training with elite athletes and renowned coaches of the game and hasn’t shown any signs of his enthusiasm decline. With that said fans can expect a fight from the WWE veteran.

His opponent, Mickey Gall, on the other side, seems to be enjoying the attention and the entire build up to the fight. The young lad explains that “the pressure isn’t on me. I feel great.” Walking into this fight Gall is -400 favorite. It looks like very few believe in Punk being the ‘best in the world’.

Mickey Gall caught the attention of Dana White, during his MMA debut, by calling out CM Punk post-fight after his victory– “I’m hungry. Feed me CM Punk.”

The UFC president showed immediate interest in the young fighter. This incident was shown in ‘Dana White: Looking for a fight’ series.

After his impressive MMA debut, he was offered a match at UFC Fight Night: Hendricks vs Thompson against Mike Jackson, which he won in 45 seconds by submission via rear-naked choke.
