UFC News: After announcing retirement, Urijah Faber may not walk away from MMA after all

‘The California Kid’s’ Octagon mission may not yet be done!

It looks like it may not be the last time we see ‘The California Kid’ throw down inside the Octagon, contrary to his statement earlier this week.

Earlier this week, multiple time UFC bantamweight title challenger and former WEC champ, ‘The California Kid’ Urijah Faber, took to The MMA Hour, to announce that his upcoming fight with Brad Pickett at UFC Sacramento, in December, will be his last time competing inside the Octagon for his career.

Faber is on the back of a loss at the hands of Jimmie Rivera at UFC 203, in Cleveland, this past September. Apparently, the loss was a sign for ‘The California Kid’ to hang up the gloves for good.

Before the loss to Rivera, Faber had lost to the current 135-pound champion, Dominick Cruz, in the co-main event of UFC 199, in his fourth career UFC title opportunity. Although Faber has stated that his clash with Pickett at UFC Sacramento later this year will be his last, don’t count on it too much.

Faber recently told TMZ that he might not retire after his next Octagon bout:

"I'd never put extreme limits on myself. I would never say, 'this is it, this is it.' I mean, somebody might really piss me off and there might be a golden opportunity. You never know. But my mentality right now is I'm gonna have this fight. I'm gonna go out with a bang and make it a meaningful and heartfelt one."

Although the loss of Faber from the UFC’s roster will be a huge blow to the fans, as he is the man who put the lighter weight classes on the map, you can rest assure he will keep close to the sport, as the Team Alpha Male founder.

It is apparent that he will continue to help produce, hot young UFC prospects such as Paige VanZant and current bantamweight title challenger Cody Garbrandt.
