Bungie announced a fix for the recent Destiny 2 Celestial Nighthawk bug

Celestial Nighthawk is currently the most broken armor piece in Destiny 2. A few aspects led to this, with the primary one being the recent implementation of roaming super, and a powerful Exotic weapon that directly tied with the pairing. Players can now activate the Marksman Golden Gun at least five to six times in a boss fight, which seems unintended according to Bungie.

With a December update, the company has announced a fix to this bug. The reason behind this is the high regeneration of the Golden Gun super, which was added to the roaming ultimate abilities in Act II.

Although the Celestial Nighthawk changes the Golden Gun Marksman to a one-shot burst ability, the regeneration stays the same, leading to multiple activations in a single fight.

Celestial Nighthawk bug to be fixed with Destiny 2 December update

Golden Gun Marksman can be paired with a couple of Exotic armor pieces that can amplify the effect of the super. One of those Exotics is the Celestial Nighthawk, which converts the super from a roaming ability to a one-shot burst output damaging source.

The issue here, however, is the ability regeneration that can be gained with the Celestial version, allowing players to activate the high-damage one-shot super multiple times in a boss fight.

This regeneration can be boosted via Destiny 2 Exotic weapons like Outbreak Perfected and Bad Juju.

Here is Bungie's official statement regarding the fix they are implementing in December 2024:

We're aware of an issue where the Celestial Nighthawk Golden Gun variant is benefiting from the recent increase in Super energy gains meant only for "roaming" Supers. This is not intended and we're targeting a fix for early December.

A great example of the exploit can be found in recent footage made by one of the most renowned content creators in the community, Sneaky Beaver. Anyone looking to create this build for clearing endgame content can follow the video below.

The company also hasn't announced any temporary disabling of the super ability or the Exotic armor piece. This means everyone is free to use this exploit in Destiny 2 and clear away endgame content until the fix hits the official servers in December 2024.
