Bungie is reversing one of the roughest nerfs in Destiny 2 Revenant Act II

Destiny 2 Revenant Act II is scheduled to get a significant update via a mid-season patch. Players can expect buffs to numerous gear pieces as well as changes to the core sandbox. However, one specific "buff" will arrive in the form of a rollback. This concerns the Mountaintop, which was nerfed to prevent players from boosting their jumps, sparking an outrage in the community.

With Update 8.1.5, the fan-favorite Grenade Launcher will get its essence back, as gamers will be able to boost their jumps using the weapon once again. The company acknowledged that the nerf might have been unnecessarily strong, hence the rollback.

The Mountaintop is getting its rocket-jumping velocity back in Destiny 2

The Mountaintop is considered one of the most popular weapons in Destiny 2 even today. Considering how this Grenade Launcher was out of the sandbox for four years, it gained immediate attention with the newest perk pools upon its return.

However, one minor addition to the new Mountaintop caught the eye of many. It involved jump boosts. You could fire the weapon directly on a surface and follow that up with a small jump. This led to players getting a significant boost in their jumps, allowing them to cover heights that cannot be made without using platforms.

However, this aspect of The Mountaintop was nerfed with Update 8.0.5 back in August 2024. This meant the weapon would only damage the user instead of boosting their jump's height.

In the recent November 14 TWID, the developers at Bungie stated the following regarding the nerf and the rollback:

"We have heard the feedback loud and clear that the nerf to Mountaintop felt unnecessarily strong, so we have walked back some of the speed limit reduction we previously gave to the blast’s damage impulse."

Hence, the Micro-Missile Framed archetype, which is the same as The Mountaintop, will increase the velocity that players can generate with the rocket jumping blast.

There are currently no other weapons in Destiny 2 that share the archetype. As such, this change will also apply when Bungie does release something with the Micro-Missile Frame.
