Diablo 4: How to cheer at the training militia
Some Diablo 4 players might be confused by the “cheer at the training militia” quest at the very beginning of the game. Once you get to Kyovashad proper, you’ll be asked to do this as one of the tutorial objectives. If you turn off the tutorial hints, because you’re an experienced Diablo player, this quest might wind up being more frustrating than it’s meant to be.
All it’s meant to do is show players how to use the emote system. While it’s not something used often in actual gameplay, it’s still worth knowing about for simple communication with other players. The emote system is also how you turn on Bloodmarked in Diablo 4 so you can PVP. So, if you’re stumped about how to cheer at the training militia in Diablo 4, here’s what to do.
How to use the emotes in Diablo 4 to cheer at the training militia
Completing the task “cheer at the training militia” in Diablo 4 is relatively simple. The game gives you the objective marker, so head to where that point is in Kyovashad — northeast of the “Select Difficulty” statue. This is all very close to the cathedral, so it’s incredibly hard to miss.
This objective is a part of the quest Raising Spirits, and after speaking to Guard Boza, you’ll be tasked with heading to a blue-circled area on the map. Once you’re inside that section, and see the soldiers, you just have to “cheer” at them.
What you do next depends on using a controller or the keyboard/mouse. If you’re a keyboard and mouse player, press “E” and move the scroll wheel up to get to the left side of the emote wheel system. Then, just click on “Cheer” and you should be good to go.
On a controller, press “up” on the D-Pad, and use L1/Left Button to navigate to the left side of the emote wheel. Then, confirm it with the X/A button, and you’ll cheer at the militia in Diablo 4. You’ll hear your character say “Well done”, and the mission will be complete. Just head back to the quest NPC to receive your rewards.
The above information, however, is predicated on the notion that you haven't customized your emote wheels. If you’ve changed them around before doing this quest, you’ll have to potentially do a little searching to find the Cheer emote.
