How to get Nitrate in Enshrouded

Nitrate in Enshrouded is one of the advanced materials you will need to make essential items such as Black Powder and Mortar. Getting this material is not an easy job as it is not something you can find in the wild. Nitrate needs to be crafted in Alchemist’s Laboratory. The process of unlocking an Alchemist’s Laboratory and getting the necessary items needed to craft this material is quite lengthy.

However, to make the process a little easier, this article shares all the details needed to get Nitrate in Enshrouded.

Before crafting Nitrate, you need to unlock and build the Alchemist's Laboratory. This is the last Production Place you will unlock, making it accessible only in the late game. To do this, complete a series of quests related to the Alchemist. Here's a breakdown of each quest you need to complete:

How to craft Nitrate in Enshrouded

Once you've unlocked the Alchemist's Laboratory, you can start collecting the materials needed to craft Nitrate. The recipe requires 5x Sand, 5x Salt, 1x Wood Acid, and 1x Alchemical Base. Each of these items can be found or crafted in specific locations throughout the game world.

1) Sand

To gather Sand, head to the Kindlewastes biome. This material is obtained by using a pickaxe to mine the ground in the Kindlewastes Desert area.

2) Salt

Salt is relatively easy to find early in your adventure. The best locations include the Saline Quarry southeast of Braelyn Bridge, the Egerton Salt Mine northeast of Springlands Ancient Spire, and a crevasse near the Braelyn Bridge. Use a pickaxe to mine Salt deposits in these areas.

3) Wood Acid

Wood Acid is a crafted material — not something you'll find in the wild. You'll need a Charcoal Kiln, which you can build in any base location. The recipe for Wood Acid includes 15x Wood Logs (collected by chopping down trees with a pickaxe) and 3x Dirt (gathered from the ground in the Springlands biome).

4) Alchemical Base

The final ingredient for Nitrate is the Alchemical Base, which can be crafted at the Alchemical Station in the Alchemist's Laboratory. The recipe requires 1x Shroud Liquid, 1x Mycelium, 1x Shroud Spores, and 1x Water.

Shroud Liquid and Mycelium can be gathered by chopping down mushrooms in the Shrouded areas, while Shroud Spores are dropped by defeating blue flower enemies and red mushroom foes, with each enemy dropping two to five Shroud Spores. Water can be collected from wells, such as Longkeep's Water Well, which is accessible early in the game.

Once you have gathered all the necessary materials, go to the Alchemist's Laboratory, interact with the crafting station, and select the Nitrate recipe. Ensure that you have all the required ingredients: 5x Sand, 5x Salt, 1x Wood Acid, and 1x Alchemical Base. Click "Craft" to produce Nitrate, which can then be used in several advanced recipes.
