All new mounts in Final Fantasy XIV update 7.1 and how to get them
Like many major updates, Final Fantasy XIV 7.1 offers players quite a few new mounts to farm. Some of them require luck, others just require a nice, easy grind. Others require a type of dedication to your craft that borders on madness. However, all of these mounts are worth getting. Whether you’re upset about the real-money Brachiosaur and want your own without spending 100 USD, or just want a rad wolf, read on.
There are five new mounts in Final Fantasy XIV update 7.1 that we know of. If another should be discovered, we’ll update this accordingly. As long as you’re subscribed to the game, meet the requirements, and are updated to the Crossroads patch, you can get started on these.
How to unlock all the new mounts in Final Fantasy XIV update 7.1
The new mounts in Final Fantasy XIV update 7.1 come from a wide variety of sources. Some of them have been made much easier to unlock this time around, as well. Others have been made ridiculous and tedious. A good example of easier is the Punutiy mount. This adorable manatee only requires the rank of Respected with the Pelupelu, which is faster than most Allied Society mounts.
Conversely, the Barrteltender mount requires a baffling 100,000 Orange Gatherers’ Scrips. I suppose we should be thankful that it doesn’t require Crafters’ Scrips instead. On top of that, you have to periodically turn them in for the mount token, since you can only have 4,000 Orange Gatherers’ Scrips at one time.
Below is a list of all the new mounts that we’ve seen in Final Fantasy XIV update 7.1, and how you can unlock them. In at least one case, there are multiple ways to unlock it, but the others remain rigid.
Requirements for all new 7.1 mounts
- Barreltender: Purchase in Solution Nine (9.2, 13.3) for 100 Mount Tokens. Mount Tokens cost 1,000 Orange Gatherers’ Scrips a piece - 100K total needed.
- Brachiosaur: Purchase in Tuliyolall from Dawn Hunt Vendor (13.9, 13.5). 3,200 Sacks of Nuts required, must unlock Dawn Hunts first.
- Punutiy: Purchase from Pelupelu vendor at Dock Poga for 18 Pelu Peluplumes. Requires Respected Rank (Rank 5).
- Venturous Kamuy: Unlocked in three ways: From Faux Commander in Idylshire for 600 Faux Leaves (Unreal Trials). Also unlocked from Khloe in Idylshire for 1 Khloe’s Gold Certification of Commendation. Can also be bought on the Market Board (8-12M average price).
- Wings of Eternity: Potential reward from The Minstrel’s Ballad: Sphene’s Burden Trial.
It’s worth pointing out that the Venturous Kamuy is not required to get the Nine Tails mount. Despite sharing a name with various Kamuy mounts, it has not, that we have seen, been retroactively made a requirement.
The only mount among these that’s locked behind RNG is the Wings of Eternity, which features the incredible music of the Sphene Trial. Keep grinding through the fight The Minstrel’s Ballad: Sphene’s Burden until you get lucky enough for this to drop. It’s worth it though as it has an incredible design and music.
