Final Fantasy XIV: How to get Optical Fibergrass
Optical Fibergrass is a powerful reagent in Final Fantasy XIV that is used in making the current top-tier crafting and gathering gear in the game, item level 720. While Optical Fibergrass is only used to create one thing — Optical Nanofiber — it is nonetheless incredibly important if you want to make the best gear you can for your various crafting and gathering classes, once they hit level 100.
There’s only one known place to specifically farm Optical Fibergrass in Final Fantasy XIV, but don’t let that get you down. Where to farm Optical Fibergrass in Final Fantasy XIV
Optical Fibergrass spawns in Final Fantasy XIV’s Living Memory: Leynode Pyro, coordinates [29, 17] during the server hours of 4-6 am/pm. While that in itself sounds restrictive, depending on your stats, it only gets worse. There are a few requirements to even see Optical Fibergrass, much less farm it.

- Tome of Botanical Folklore - Alexandria
Thankfully, it’s not too hard to come up with a copy of Tome of Botanical Folklore - Alexandria. You can purchase it from any Scrip Exchanger, under the section Gatherers’ Scrip (Regional Folklore/Materials/Misc.) for 1,600 Purple Gatherers’ Scrip. Do note that some of the vendors do have an unlock requirement. It may be easier to simply head to Tuliyollal and purchase it there.
Once you have met the requirements in stats and items, you can head to the above location between those server hours and farm up Optical Fibergrass in Final Fantasy XIV. That being said, there’s a much easier way.
Just head to your local Market Board. While prices may vary, on Diabolos, you can purchase 99 Optical Fibergrass for a total of 98,505 gil. The prices go up from there, but it’s a much easier option if you aren’t ready to farm it yourself.
You use Optical Fibergrass to make Optical Nanofiber as a level 100 Alchemist. In turn, it’s used to make a mountain of gear for both crafters and gatherers. Of course, it also takes a wealth of other reagents — the Nanofiber is just a part of it. If you want to farm the new Barreltender mount, having solid gathering gear will help, and this is the top-of-the-line stuff you make with Optical Nanofiber.
