Luma Island fishing guide

Fishing is one of the many activities in Luma Island as it offers a relaxed means of engaging with the sandbox crafting game. It is also one of the most lucrative early-game ways of making money. These two factors make the Fisherman Profession a great starter job. As such, those looking to dive into the depths of how fishing works need not look any further.

This guide details all to know about fishing in Luma Island. We will also take a look at how to fish, all baits and fishes, treasure hunting, recipes, and more.

To fish, you must first have finished the tutorial which will grant all necessary tools, including the Fishing Rod. Like many other games in the crafting genre, you will also need bait to attach to the Fishing Rod in order to attract fish. Bait can be found around the overworld as small insects running away from the protagonist, which can be caught using the Bug Net.

That said, there are a variety of aquatic animals in the game to catch, each found in various water bodies like the sea or lakes. To fish, simply attach bait to the rod, then face the water body in the direction where the fish needed to be caught can be seen swimming around. Cast the bait near the fish, and it should spot the tasty meal when swimming near it.

This will initiate a minigame where you must chase the fish around as it swims and follow it while keeping the bobber as close to the fish as possible without trailing behind. Do note that the bait can bounce around if bumped into rocks and there will be many fish that are more than happy to initiate a cat-and-mouse chase around rocky water bodies. On a successful catch, simply reel in the fish to add it to your inventory.

Note that fishing with bait in an area of water without any swimming aquatic life will still net some goodies, such as jellyfish, squid, and stingrays, depending on the biome. That said, marine life is not the only thing that the Fishing Rod can catch in Luma Island.

You can also gather sunken treasure using the Fishing Rod; however, this is gathered using magnets as the bait. Fishing up treasure is far easier than catching fish. To do this, attach a magnet to the rod via the Bait Menu and face the water body with the area that has bubbles cropping up.

Cast the magnet bait in that direction and the bubbly area should sparkle, indicating treasure has caught on the line. Simply reel it in to gather sunken treasure which also differs based on biome.

On the Farm, you will get Sunken Farm Treasure, while water bodies in the Forest, Mountains, and Jungle give Sunken Forest Treasure, Sunken Mountain Treasure, and Sunken Jungle Treasure respectively.

Gathered treasure can then be cleaned at the Treasure Hunter's Sink and its resources used at the Treasure Hunter's Workbench. Both are crafted using Farm Wood Planks (x5), Glass (x5), and Copper Bars (x1).
