Beginner tips to know before starting Mirthwood
1) Character creation has more features than just physical appearance
In Mirthwood, character creation isn't just about deciding on your character's appearance and jumping into the game. You'll also need to select their Origin, Class, and Profession. These come with positive and negative modifiers that will impact your gameplay.
The "Origin" option makes you start from one of the five regions in the game. Each region gives your character unique personality traits such as "assertive", "agreeable", "curious", "conscientious", and "introverted".
The "Class" option will let you choose from three social classes: Royal, Noble, and Peasant. Each will give you a positive and a negative attribute related to the work your Class does.
Then, you can choose your "Profession", which also bestows positive and negative attributes based on your pick. You will be given the following options: Herbalist, Tinkerer, Farmer, Actor, Criminal, Fighter, and Ratcatcher.
2) Creating relationships with NPCs can give you access to additional side quests
The interaction mechanic in Mirthwood is quite unique. Instead of simply going through predetermined dialogues, you can choose a topic when speaking to NPCs. Options like Chat, Jest, Romance, Gossip, and Influence are available for you to choose when initiating a conversation.
Picking the right or wrong topic can affect the nature of your relationships with these characters. Additionally, the kind of relationships you create with them can lead to unique side quests.

3) Exploration provides you with additional content
Like most other RPGs and MMORPGs, the main storyline in Mirthwood does not encompass the entire game. You will have to explore the world on your own, which will lead you to discover quests, characters, and items that are not part of the main narrative.
Interacting with these and completing side quests can affect your character and gameplay in various ways.
4) Combat and survival difficulty can be chosen/changed to suit your playstyle
Mirthwood gives you the option to choose separate difficulty levels for your combat and survival. In the game settings, you can find two options called "Easier Combat" and "Easier Survival".
You can turn these options on for an easier time in the game. Doing so will make both surviving in the environment and defeating enemies a breeze. The options can be toggled anytime you want, giving you the opportunity to understand the two modes and adjust your playstyle accordingly. Moreover, you can selectively ramp up the difficulty as you get better at either of the two gameplay aspects over time.
5) Pages from the Bramble Quillworthy Book give you hints
While exploring the world, you will come across various pages scattered throughout the map. While most of these pages contain lore, those from the book of Bramble Quillworthy offer hints that will aid you in the game.
These pages will provide information on nearby resources or warn you about dangerous areas. Such information will come in handy when you are exploring unfamiliar regions.
