Pax Dei is getting a new chat system "powered by Discord"
Despite Pax Dei being in early access, the developers seem to be pulling out all the stops. Mainframe Industries has announced a brand new feature coming to the title as part of the early access phase. A chat system "powered by Discord" will be implemented, which will improve upon the current in-game chat system and allow seamless communication between players.
Given that the title is an MMO, communication will be key to coordinating and functioning as a team. Here is more on the new chat system "powered by Discord" and what you can expect from it.
Stay connected to your Pax Dei friends anywhere
According to the developers, this new chat system being powered by Discord will allow for an array of options when it comes to in-game communications. This means that the existing system will be replaced. This is a list of initial options that players will have access to:
- Zone chat: You can now communicate with all players within a zone.
- Friends list: Keep your friends close, they say.
- Online presence: See who among your friends is online, making it easier to organize group activities or hop into a conversation.
- Block and mute: Sometimes, you’ll want to keep people at arm’s length (yes, it happens)
In addition to these new features, older options such as Proximity chat, direct messages, party chat, and clan chat will remain in-game. The new features will just be the icing on the cake if anything.
Can I use Discord to talk to my friends in Pax Dei?
If you want to keep in touch or contact your friends outside of the game's ecosystem, the game lets you do that as well. You will have to link your Discord to the game and give permission to it. Once done, when your in-game friends are online, you will be able to talk to them via Discord.

Keep in mind that this feature is, of course, purely on an opt-in basis. It is separate from the chat system being powered by Discord and not integrated into the game itself. That said, the developers have mentioned several features that are planned to be implemented into this system as well:
- Seeing if a friend is in a specific world before choosing where you want to play will be an option in the future.
- Clan chat in Discord and clan announcement broadcasts to the chat system are features that are coming soon.
- Voice chat is also planned for future updates.
When will the integrated chat system being powered by Discord go live?
Based on official information, the new chat system has gone live on November 20, 2024. Once you update to the latest version, it will be enabled in-game.
