Path of Exile 2: 5 Best Minion skills to use
Path of Exile 2 features a host of amazing Minion skills, and while the best ones are subjective, we’ve picked the ones that have succeeded the most for us in-game. You can really go any route you want — start with Warriors, then grab Reavers and Brutes, or plenty of other combinations. Most minions in PoE 2 will automatically revive to continue fighting for you, saving you the hassle of having a bunch of extra buttons on your hotbar.
However, we can’t put every Minion on the list of best Minion skills to use in Path of Exile 2. While it’s not on the list, I do want to highlight Unearth’s Bone Construct Minions. These can really swarm a boss under if there are enough corpses nearby. That’s the hard part — finding the corpses in certain situations to summon these from.
However, if you have enough Spirit in PoE 2, and want lots of minions, here are the best picks.

Which Minion skills are the best in Path of Exile 2?
This is not an exhaustive list of the Minion skills in Path of Exile 2 — only the ones I think are the strongest. No matter what Minions you want to run, they all fit somewhere. These are the ones we think stand out the most.
- Raging Spirits
- Skeletal Sniper
- Skeletal Arsonist
- Skeletal Storm Mage
- Infernal Hellhound
1) Raging Spirits (Elemental)
Raging Spirits are one of my favorite minions in Path of Exile 2 — and they’re easily some of the best. These come from a Permanent Buff/Spirit Gem, Raging Spirits. While equipped, any fire spell you cast conjures these aggressive fire spirits to fight for you. They only stay on screen for a limited time, but you can just resummon them for almost no mana.
That’s one of the reasons Fire Wall is in most Minion leveling builds. It’s low-cost, deals solid damage, and can flood the screen in these aggressive spirits. Combining them with Support Gems like Feeding Frenzy just makes them that much more potent, as well as anything that reduces Fire Resistance.
2) Skeletal Sniper (Occult)
Throughout much of the early game of Path of Exile 2, Skeletal Snipers were my go-to Minion skill. This is primarily thanks to them being ranged attack minions and their incredible Poison Gas Cloud skill. At first, I ran curses and Poison to slowly whittle down enemies, but it just wasn’t fast enough for me.
I still think they’re an amazing Act 1/early game minion and are still one of the best Path of Exile 2 Minion Skills. I do feel like they ultimately get out-classed by Skeletal Arsonists, but if you can somehow find room in your build for both, that can create some explosive combos — literally!
3) Skeletal Arsonist (Occult)
Towards the end of Act 1, and frankly, for the rest of the game, you’re likely going to run Skeletal Arsonist. Their ability to use Detonate Dead is great, and they have a powerful, long-range fire bomb attack. This synergizes perfectly with Raging Spirits by sacrificing them at the end of their lifetime to deal even more damage.
You can support them with gems like Scattershot and anything that reduces Fire Resistance/ignores Fire Resistance to make them hit like absolute demons. Plus, it’s satisfying to watch them all fire in unison. Skeletal Arsonists are easily one of the best minion skills in Path of Exile 2.
4) Skeletal Storm Mage (Occult)
While most minions require as many as possible in play, you just need one Skeletal Storm Mage. More might be nice if you’re running a Lightning build, but I only want one in play. It hits enemies with the Shock ailment, which increases incoming damage to those enemies.
Combine that with Flammability to reduce Fire Resistance, and you’ve got a deadly team. You then have a swarm of Raging Spirits, an Infernal Hellhound, and probably some Skeletons too, and the enemy that stood before you has melted under the weight of their strength. Not only is it a favorite of mine, but it’s one of the most powerful Minion skills in Path of Exile 2.
5) Infernal Hellhound
Only usable by the Witch, the Infernal Hellhound comes from their Infernalist Ascendancy. You can grab it as soon as you unlock Infernalist too, making it even better. It’s an aggressive, powerful, self-reviving undead like all the other Witch summons. But what makes it better than focusing on, say, Skeletal Reavers or Brutes?
It does not cost any Spirit to use! All you have to do is flip its “off” switch to “on”, and you’ll have a nearly-permanent ally. It has a revive timer, sure, but like most undead, it’s not a very lengthy one.
It also takes a portion of damage from Hits for you, keeping you alive just a bit longer. This minion also adds to your Ignite potential, making it a Very Good Boy and one of the best Path of Exile 2 Minion skills.
