Path of Exile 2 platforms: Will Early Access be on consoles?
As it stands, Path of Exile 2 Early Access will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Originally slated to release on November 15, 2024, the Early Access will now come out on December 6, 2024, a solid three-week delay for multiple reasons.
The release was previously supposed to be beta access but was changed to Early Access instead, with multiple avenues of paid entry. Moreover, the Early Access will feature full microtransaction support and crossplay, owing to Grinding Gear Games' original mission statement.
Everything coming to Path of Exile 2 Early Access
Path of Exile 2's Early Access will feature three acts and the title's signature endgame mapping, which will be expanded upon in future updates. The three-act campaign will be expanded into a six-act campaign instead.
Veteran Path of Exile players will remember how the prequel was originally released in a similar staggered format, and subsequent updates created the current 10-act-long campaign. Furthermore, Path of Exile's endgame of today is a far cry from the old days, when it was considerably smaller and even had fewer build options.
Path of Exile 2's Early Access will be paid until the full release, upon which the game will enter its previously stated free-to-play state. Purchase options are currently unavailable and details will be revealed during the November 21 GGG Livestream. This live stream will also reveal more about the endgame.
During Path of Exile's Beta Access, players received access by purchasing a $30 supporter pack or by having a lifetime purchase record of over $500. In a tweet, GGG revealed that players who have spent $500 in Path of Exile will receive a free PoE2 Early Access key.
Path of Exile 2 will receive full crossplay, cross-save, and couch co-op support across all platforms, although there will be some limitations for microtransactions on PlayStation. Furthermore, players cannot upgrade their previously purchased Supporter packs on different platforms, as these are considered separate items.
