Path of Exile 2 A Theft of Ivory quest guide
Path of Exile 2’s Act 2 has a branching path where you can do a few quests in any order — this includes A Theft of Ivory. These quests will send you to other parts of the wasteland in search of particular items. In the case of A Theft of Ivory, you’re looking for Mammoth Tusks in the Mastodon Badlands. This will require you to fight a boss at the end, but it’s worth it if you want to progress deeper into the story.
You can also begin the Ancient Vows quest in this zone if you find one of the two Relics that can randomly drop off one of the enemies out here in this vast wilderness. If you’re having trouble with A Theft of Ivory in Path of Exile 2, we’re here to get you on course.
How to complete A Theft of Ivory quest in Path of Exile 2
Once you speak to Sekhema Asala in The Ardura Caravan, you can begin A Theft of Ivory in Path of Exile 2. This quest takes place during The Trail of Corruption after you get back from The Halini Gates. You can do the three quests on offer in the order of your choosing, but I started with this one. It has the following objectives:
- Use the Desert Map to travel to Mastodon Badlands
- Search the Mastodon Badlands for the entrance to the Bone Pits
- Search the Bone Pits for the Mastodon Tusks
- Defeat Iktab, the Deathlord and Ekbab, Ancient Steed
- Return to the Ardura Caravan and Talk to Zarka
Using the Desert Map, select the Mastodon Badlands, a zone that is level 21 — the follow-up zone, The Bone Pits, is a level 22 zone, so prepare accordingly. You must simply explore the Mastodon Badlands in search of the entrance to the Bone Pits, but it will be found as a glowing door amongst a huge pile of bones to reach the next step of Path of Exile 2’s A Theft of Ivory.
The zone itself is massive, which shouldn’t be a surprise. While we found The Bone Pits in the southeastern part of the map, it could truly be anywhere due to the random nature of PoE 2 mapping. The screenshot above shows what the entrance looks like.
Once inside, the real search begins. You’re looking for a specific Checkpoint inside the Bone Pits, to find the Mastodon Tusks — The Blackrib Pit. This is home of Iktab, the Deathlord and Ekbab, Ancient Steed. You’ll need to beat them to come out on top in A Theft of Ivory in Path of Exile 2.
These aren’t incredibly challenging bosses. Ekbab is the larger enemy and has powerful slams and AOE attacks. Iktab uses devastating ranged AOE spells, but it’s nothing you can’t avoid if you just stay mobile.
If you can, defeat them both at the same time, because if one perishes before the other, they power up and become a much harder fight. Do keep that in mind when attacking them. The easier of the two to defeat solo is likely Iktab. While he has a ton of ranged spells and huge AOEs to deal with, there’s always a safe spot to stand.
Upon defeating both enemies, you get the Mastodon Tusks, which will conclude Path of Exile’s A Theft of Ivory upon returning them to Zarka. Your reward is an Uncut Spirit Gem.
