How to fast travel in Path of Exile 2

Path of Exile 2 doesn’t require you to buy items for fast travel, which is a great feature. Older ARPGs often made players purchase items like books or scrolls to teleport back to their home area. While PoE 2 doesn’t break the mold for fast travel, it does make the system in general incredibly easy.

As you progress through Path of Exile 2, from Act 1 and beyond, you’ll often find yourself teleporting and fast traveling across Wraeclast to get to quest destinations much faster. This makes exploration not only easier but also more rewarding. Here's how you can do it.

How to fast travel between locations in Path of Exile 2

To fast travel in Path of Exile 2, you need access to a Waypoint. You’ll see your first one once you arrive in Clearfell Encampment, but it does you no good at that point. To fast travel, you need to step on the Waypoint, which brings up the menu. You’ll see a map of each Act you’ve been to and all the potential locations you can teleport to.

If you want to return to a different Act, click one of the Act Tabs at the bottom of the screen. Another interesting feature is that you can also see the various named monsters you’ll be able to fight in those areas. It won’t show you where those enemies are, but it gives you something to hunt and explore.

For example, near the Clearfell Waypoint, you’ll see a skull that, if you highlight it, gives the name Beira of the Rotten, indicating that she's a target you can hunt down and defeat. You can also see other important things on the Waypoint map, such as caches, and important quest locations.

Most maps in the game have a Waypoint to fast travel to and from. All you need to do is find them on the map once and get close to it, and it will glow brilliantly. This also has the secondary effect of refilling your Health/Mana potions.

While you can only fast travel between these Waypoints, you also have a portal to return to your current main base of operations. There’s a portal icon on your UI, but you can also bind a specific button to teleport back with.

Just open the Skills menu and select Bind Skills. From there, choose the blue Town Portal ability and place it wherever you prefer on your hotbar. That will bring you home at any time.
