How to unlock your Hideout in Path of Exile 2
Hideouts are a player's home away from home in Path of Exile 2, as well as the prequel. These isolated spaces are locations that a player has trodden through before but have been reimagined to host their personal belongings, including Stashes, Guild Stashes, the Map Device, any crafting apparatus, and more.
Hideouts are also used extensively in the endgame as the Map Device in this space allows better one-stop access to it. These spaces can also serve as the de-facto locations to conduct all trade-related activities such as buying and selling items. Now that we know a little about the Hideout's functionality, let's find out how we can unlock it in Path of Exile 2.
What steps to take to unlock the hideout in Path of Exile 2?
Players can unlock the Hideout feature in Path of Exile 2 by traversing the new Atlas of Worlds and randomly encountering one in the world, during their foray. There is seemingly no special level and encounter restrictions when it comes to encountering a Hideout in the wild.
The method of unlocking a Hideout remains the same when compared to Path of Exile, where players have to kill a limited number of strong enemies to claim said Hideout for themselves. However, unlocking these spaces in Path of Exile 2 is a little more daunting than the prequel, as dying in the middle of clearing will result in the loss of both the encounter and the Hideout, just like endgame Atlas maps.
That's not even the only situation where Path of Exile 2's Hideout acquisition differs from the prequel. In Path of Exile, players could unlock their hideouts as early as Act Two, while traversing The Chamber of Sins 2, as a part of their main campaign narrative.
On a different note, similar to Path of Exile, you can invite the NPCs from the campaigns to your active Hideout and make them become your personal vendors.
Currently, there are four total Hideouts in the game, namely the Canal Hideout, Felled Hideout, Limestone Hideout, and Shrine Hideout. There is also a special fifth one, but the Dreadnaught Hideout is only available if one purchases the Lord of Faridun Early Access Supporter Pack which costs a hefty $100. This Hideout can be accessed at all times, regardless of the state of the campaign.
Accessing the Hideout can be done easily from the World Map select screen, which is opened via the U key on the PC. In the World Map screen, players can look towards the right and see the small blue icon right below the Underground Map select icon. Clicking this blue icon will open the Hideout selection tab and players will be able to choose their residence at will.
