How to preload Path of Exile 2 (PC and consoles)

Path of Exile 2’s Early Access is almost upon us, and if you want to preload the game, you can do that soon enough. While some platforms already have access to the preloading process, others might have to wait just a little longer. Since the game is massive, you’ll certainly want to download it early, so you can dive in as soon as possible with all the other players, when things kick off on December 6, 2024.

However, there is a catch - you need to purchase one of the Supporter Packs if you want to participate in the Early Access and preload Path of Exile 2. While the game will be free after its official launch, these packs grant early access alongside some other perks.

How to begin the preload process in Path of Exile 2 for PC and console players

To preload Path of Exile 2 on PC and console, players must first purchase one of the Supporter Packs on the platform of their choice. This is either PC (Steam/Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5, or Xbox Series X|S. You can also purchase these packs directly on the Path of Exile website.

When it comes to PC players, the Community Team stated that to accommodate everyone who wants to preload the game, there will be a standalone PC client available for download on Thursday, December 5 at 8 pm EST/5 pm PST. Players will be able to download a torrent or direct download via the Path of Exile website.

If you’re an Xbox player, you can already access the preload of PoE 2, although it's not available on the Game Pass. Once you’ve purchased one of the Supporter Packs, you should already be able to download the game and get it ready for December 6.

Meanwhile, PlayStation 5 players will have to wait just a tiny bit longer. According to the Community Team at Grinding Gear Games, PlayStation 5 packs won’t be ready until December 5, 2024 - 24 hours before the Early Access starts. When you do purchase one, you’ll be able to start preloading Path of Exile 2 immediately from the client.

However, the developers have also pointed out that there might be other files to download once Early Access starts. Unfortunately, there’s no information on a preload for Steam or the Epic Games Store at this time but the developers will give an update once they have more information.
