Can you play Path of Exile 2 in split-screen co-op?

Path of Exile 2’s Early Access does feature co-op, but what about split screen? A split screen could potentially make co-op more exciting, but might also have its own particular drawbacks, as managing multiple parts of the screen could be challenging. Even previous ARPGs like Diablo 3 didn’t have split screens, but what about this game?

The good news is that this is easy to test for split-screen, as long as you have two controllers and Path of Exile 2 on PC. While this could change sometime in the future of Early Access, unfortunately, PoE 2 currently does not have a split-screen.

No, split-screen is not in Path of Exile 2, but you can couch co-op

As mentioned, Path of Exile 2 currently does not have a split-screen, and there haven’t been any announcements of the contrary at this time. However, you can easily take part in couch co-op by plugging in another controller to your PC and pressing A/X to activate it.

Both players can pick from a character on your account, though you cannot play the same character. Both players must select a character, and enter the game as normal. To make things easier, you will immediately load in as a party, so you don’t have to do any extra work for that.

Additionally, player 2 cannot leave a map or enter a map on their own; it’s up to player 1 to accept and move on to new maps. If one player stretches too far away from the other, eventually you’ll stop zooming out. That means that there’s no way to split-screen right now.

This is also an incredible way to play two of your own characters at the same time, thanks to the advent of couch co-op. While the UI for each player is a bit small, each character has its own UI to monitor. This could change sometime in the future, but right now, there is no split-screen.
