Does Path of Exile 2 have transmog?

In games like Path of Exile 2 and Diablo 4, fashion — transmog — is typically thought of as the real endgame. There are many online games with incredible fashion systems: Warframe, Final Fantasy 14, and World of Warcraft, just to name a few. It’s something Diablo 4 also does remarkably well, allowing players to use virtually any equipment they’ve picked up, to mix-and-match the ultimate cosmetic outfit.

While the answer is yes, Path of Exile 2 has a transmog system, it’s not as satisfying as you might get in games like Diablo 4. It's not going to be free to use, for the most part.

Yes, Path of Exile 2 has transmog, but there’s a catch

You can customize your look in Path of Exile 2 using a transmog system, but it isn’t free. It requires you to spend Points to unlock a variety of outfits. PoE 2 is, at its core, a free-to-play game — or it will be once the game fully launches, at any rate. One of the ways to monetize the game is through these cosmetic outfits. They don’t offer any stats, just awesome designs and glowing effects, typically.

While you do have to spend Points in most cases to get cosmetic items, you have plenty of slots to customize. You can have the following individual effects all going at one time, through the Path of Exile 2 transmog system.

  • Consumable
  • Helmet Skin
  • Helmet Attachment
  • Gloves Skin
  • Boots Skin
  • Weapon Skin
  • Weapon Effect
  • Portal
  • Pets (two at once)
  • Social Frame
  • Armour Attachment
  • Armour Skin

Some of the cosmetic sets, like the Lord of Ogham set, come from the Supporter Packs only. There are quite a few exclusive cosmetics you can get from those bundles. However, it's worth pointing out that these cosmetic sets can only be worn on one character at a time in our experience.

So when you swap alts, you may have to re-equip them if you want a separate character to wear the cosmetic suit you purchased/unlocked in the Supporter Packs. It’s also worth noting those bundles also give you points, so you can buy Stash tabs or other cosmetics.

Unfortunately, unlike Diablo 4, there aren’t many free options in Path of Exile 2. The previous release had MTX rewards in the various Challenge Leagues, and that will likely be sticking around going forward.

We don’t know exactly how that will work yet, as a Challenge League has not been kicked off. For the time being, if you want a new look, you’re going to have to spend Points to do so — or equip new armor and hope you like how it looks.
