Path of Exile 2: Watchful Twins boss guide

Path of Exile 2’s Act 2 features some infuriating bosses, and few can be as maddening as the Watchful Twins. Hunin, Storm Caller, and Mugin, Frost Bringer are a pair of rare bird monsters that spawn in the Forgotten Corpses section of Deshar. While we cannot point you to the exact location of this room, it will be along the wall, so inevitably, you’ll come across this optional battle.

However, it’s not a guarantee the Watchful Twins will be a terrifyingly difficult fight in Path of Exile 2 — these technically count as Rare Monsters, so if they spawn in with something you don’t want to deal with, you can try again.

How to beat Watchful Twins in Path of Exile 2

Like any optional fight in Path of Exile 2 — for example, Rattlecage the Earthbreaker — the Watchful Twins have the potential to be a frustrating battle. When you reach their room, you can try to hug the wall to only hit one of their spawn points at a time. Being able to fight them one at a time could potentially make this fight so much easier. They spawn on opposite sides of the room, so you have to tread carefully.

Both Hunin, Storm Caller, and Mugin, Frost Bringer spawn into the battle with two random modifiers — this could mean lightning explosions, haste, mana drain, or anything else you can think of in Path of Exile 2. If you don’t like these modifiers, you can open the Pause menu and select Restart from Checkpoint to try again for something more manageable.

The Watchful Twins in Path of Exile 2 are aggressive, fast enemies and will chase you around the screen. This means it’s a Kite fight — leading them around the room, pinging them when you can. This is another great fight to deploy curses and have minions to help you fight, such as a Witch.

You will certainly need Lightning Resistance for this fight, though. Hunin pretty much guarantees you’re always going to be shocked in this fight. The more he moves around, the more lightning is going to be on the ground, so tread carefully. While their Frost and Lightning attacks feel dangerous because they constantly rush you down, having elemental resistances helps so much.

In addition, having Resistance Penetration and some flavor of elemental weakness curse — Sorceress Hypothermia, Flammability, or Conductivity — is another boon, and immediately springs to mind as Level 7 skills. Having several potentially on hand to deal with whatever they spawn in with cannot hurt.

The trick in this fight is to stay moving and attack whenever you can. That’s why having minions here is an amazing boon, as they can keep fighting for you while you run around, cast curses, and whatever direct attacks you can manage on the move.

Among the many rewards you receive for defeating Path of Exile 2’s Watchful Twins, you’ll receive Djinn Barya, which opens the Trial of the Sekhemas.
