Path of Exile 2: How to switch weapons during combat
Path of Exile 2 allows you to use a multitude of weapons to fend off enemies present in the open world. At times, while in battle, it becomes necessary to switch from one set of weapons to another. This can be due to modifiers present on the weapon, the type of enemy you are facing, or simply out of boredom.
This article will delve into the process of switching weapons in Path of Exile 2.
How to change weapon sets in Path of Exile 2?
The first thing you'll want to do before switching weapons is go to your character's inventory. Once there, you'll see Roman numerals I and II. They will be present along the top of the right and left corners of the screen. From here, you can equip weapons in both hands and switch between loadouts using the "Toggle Weapon Set" option.

That being said, you do not have to learn this skill as it is present the moment your character is created. You will, however, have to bind it to gain quick access during gameplay. Here is how to go about this task:
- Open inventory and head over to the skill panel menu
- Select Open Bind Screen located at the bottom of the screen
- Bind "Toggle Weapon Set" to an open slot in your hot bar
The "Toggle Weapon Set" doesn't cost any resources and is done almost instantaneously. This will change your basic attack to that of the other set of weapons you have equipped. Your character will use this loadout until you switch back to the previous one.

How to use Raise Shield without using up your offhand?
Knowing how to switch weapons between combat is useful, but what if you need a shield? Well, if you happen to be a non-martial class, but still want a shield to use, there's an easy trick to get a bit more defense.
By placing the shield on the second weapon set, you will be able to use the "Raise Shield" skill without using up your offhand. The skill can be bound to a key for quick and easy access. When the skill is activated, the weapon set is switched and the shield is activated.
Keep in mind that you will still need a decent bit of STR to wield a shield, but even low-level shields that need minimal STR are worth using. If nothing else, some of the incoming damage will be blocked.
